new material

Well, I went up to cleveland on saturday and got some great shots of bridges. This semester I'm thinking about working on different angles of the bridges, instead of just the side shot like most of mine were last semester.
Jessi told me about the artist Mark Inglis, who uses architecture in his art. I am in love!

By looking at his website, I'm considering doing something like this by dissecting the bridges and making the images more abstract. We'll see, but I'm totally inspired by seeing his work.

Last semester final pieces

Last semester of college...

Well I think I will be sticking to my bridges for this semester as well. I really liked the path I took last semester and I want to stick to that. I already have a lot of source material that I'm ready to work with. You can look at some previous work by viewing the previous posts, but I plan to add all my finished pieces from last semester that I have not added yet.

So, here is my whole thought process behind my bridges...
When I display them, I display them side by side as diptychs. My goal by photographing/manipulating these bridges is to display a journey. I believe each of these photos tells a different journey. Some are sad and some are bright and happy. We drive over bridges to take us to different places; just like the journey of life takes us to different places. We never know where we are going and we never know how it may turn out. The goal is that each of these photos tells a separate journey but as a whole it is one giant journey, just like our life. It takes separate smalls journeys to get us through the big journey of life.
